Improve International Moves Into Equine CPD With Launch Of GP Certificate
Veterinary CPD provider Improve International, working with ESVPS and Harper Adams University, has launched a General Practitioner Certificate (GPCert) in Equine Medicine.
The new modular 18-month programme, which is pending validation as a route to a Postgraduate Certificate (PgC), has been developed with the help of Dr Veronica Roberts MA(Cantab) VetMB MA(Oxon) PGCert(HE) DipECEIM MRCVS, a European and RCVS Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine, who will also act as the Course Director. It has been structured to provide equine practitioners with a comprehensive update on the latest thinking across the key aspects of internal medicine, including laboratory diagnosis, ophthalmology and cardiology. It also includes a module on the emerging topic of Sports Medicine.
Modules will be delivered by respected keynote equine speakers who hold either a Diploma in Equine Medicine or are recognised RCVS or European Specialists in their field. The modules will be supported with an online platform offering additional learning resources. All lectures will take place at Improve’s Swindon HQ with practical elements included in several modules.
Improve International is one of the UK’s leading veterinary training companies with a 20-year track record in providing structured continuing professional development (CPD) to veterinary professionals. It works closely with assessment partner, the European School of Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS), and Harper Adams University, which provides the higher education body quality assurance, in running programmes covering a growing range of practice disciplines.
Mrs Alison Babington BVetMed MRCVS, Business Coordinator at Improve International, said: “It’s our goal to provide a complete range of development programmes for veterinary surgeons so we are delighted to be adding an Equine Medicine GPCert to our portfolio. We believe the programme we have created will enable equine vets to consolidate and enhance their knowledge of equine medicine in order that they can take a more well-informed clinical approach to the equine patient.”
The first ten modules will be delivered in pairs of dates starting in September 2017 with the second part of the course starting in September 2018. Further information is available from Improve International at www.vetpgc.co.uk/equine.
