Krka UK has launched Prazemo®, a spot-on wormer for cats, expanding its companion animal parasite control offering for the treatment of key feline endoparasites.

Prazemo® combines emodepside and praziquantel to target roundworms, hookworms, lungworms and tapeworms. As the first generic solution to market of this active combination format, Prazemo® is bioequivalent to the originator product and supports efficient dispensing with individually wrapped pipettes, while offering improved commercial value for vet practices.

Ease of administration is an important factor in treatment success and in a published owner survey, nearly 60% of cat owners rated spot-on formulations as easy or very easy to administer.Prazemo®’s spot-on formulation, together with Krka’s easy-to-use pipette design, is intended to help simplify administration and support treatment compliance.

Renzo Di Florio, Krka’s Technical Veterinary Adviser, said, “We know many owners find medicating cats challenging, and this can affect confidence in giving doses correctly and on time. Formulations that make treatment simpler can make a real difference for owners and help preserve the pet-owner bond.”

Prazemo® is available in three dosage strengths for different cat weights and can be used from 8 weeks of age and during pregnancy and lactation.2 For cats that also require ectoparasiticide treatment, Prazemo® can be used alongside a mono-isoxazoline (fluralaner) treatment,3 supporting tailored parasite control planning. Refer to the SPC for full details.

Will Ridgway, Head of Animal Health at Krka UK, said, “Prazemo® strengthens our feline parasiticide portfolio with an effective spot-on solution that veterinary practices can be confident delivers affordability combined with Krka’s high standards of product efficacy and supply chain control.

As part of its wider support for veterinary teams, Krka provides resources to help practices take a responsible, risk-based approach to parasiticide prescribing. These include ‘Ears to Tail’ pet owner guides and clinical CPD developed in collaboration with Ian Wright BVMS MSc MRCVS.
