Elanco Animal Health is delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Christian BVM&S MRCVS as the UK’s new ruminant technical consultant. Mike brings a diverse wealth of both clinical experience and business expertise to the role. The position is another part of the value added services Elanco has built up to help support vets and their clients faced with the many challenges of current farm animal practice.
Mike graduated from the Dick Vet in Edinburgh in 1986 and spent many successful years as a partner at Belle Vue Vets in Wigton, the largest farm animal practice in Cumbria. After the Foot and Mouth restocking Mike left practice to join the Veterinary Laboratories Agency as Commercial Manager, responsible for its technology transfer. This encompassed the process of transferring skills, knowledge and technologies amongst departments and institutions to ensure that scientific and technological developments were made accessible to a wider range of end users. In 2007 he joined SafeGuard Biosystems as their Veterinary Director, developing a micro-assay for bacteriology of routine mastitis samples and cow side lateral flow devices for disease diagnosis. Since 2009 he has been involved in Technology Transfer Consultancy and veterinary locums. He joined Elanco Animal Health in March 2013 and has already been in the public eye, having hosted a very popular CPD webinar on Ketosis.
