The Society of Practising Veterinary Surgeons (SPVS) is offering two CPD weekend breaks in the autumn – Cyclescene and Spascene – which combine invaluable learning with carefully planned sports and social activities for an enjoyable and thought-provoking experience.

Cyclescene is heading to Perthshire, renowned as one of Scotland’s top road cycling locations, from 4th to 9th September. The tour will take in the Etape Caledonia, including the steep King of the Mountains climb up Schiehallion as well as off-road tracks through the beautiful Perthshire countryside. Catering for all abilities, there are a variety of alternative routes to suit every level of cyclist from the beginner through to the hard-core enthusiast.

While the muscles are exercised, the grey matter will be catered for too with eleven hours of non-clinical CPD provided by veterinary accountant specialist, Moore Scarott. It will include: practice finances and funding; practice performance and benchmarking; practice structures, tax, vehicles and property; and succession planning and selling a veterinary practice.

Following its enormous success last year, Spascene is back for a second year running from 14th to 16th October at the Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire. The concept behind Spascene is for delegates to relax and learn how to improve their practice environment and interpersonal relationships in the calm and tranquil surroundings of one of the finest country spa hotels in the UK.

Vet and Personal Performance Coach, Anne-Marie Svendsen Aylott will lead the CPD focusing on emotional intelligence. This is the ability to identify, use, understand and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.

There will be lots of time between lectures to chill in the spa, indulge in a relaxing treatment or opt for an energetic alternative from tennis or golf to zumba or spin and yoga or pilates.

To book your place on these two popular courses visit www.spvs.org.uk or call 01926 840318.
