Davies Veterinary Specialists (Davies) has appointed Lara Barron as Head of Cardiology. Lara brings considerable knowledge and international expertise to Davies, further enhancing the capabilities of the Hertfordshire based practice’s renowned cardiology service.

Lara received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan in 2006. Following her undergraduate education, she relocated to Germany, where she received a Master of Science in Molecular Medicine from the Charité Universitätsmedizin, Berlin, and worked in molecular virology abroad and upon her return to the United States.

Lara received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University and completed a Rotating Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City the following year. She went on to complete a Residency in Cardiology at North Carolina State University. After moving to the UK, she joined the Cardiology Service at the Royal Veterinary College in support of the cardiothoracic bypass program before joining Linnaeus-owned Davies in September 2021.

Lara said: “I am so excited to join the team at Davies. The collaborative nature of the hospital allows us to offer advanced cardiac interventional procedures and first-class patient care. Together with the dedication of the veterinary and nursing team, this will help us to transform the lives of many patients needing specialist cardiology treatment.”

Tim Richardson, Managing Director of Davies said: “We are very pleased to welcome Lara. With her outstanding international credentials and track record, she perfectly complements the skills of our cardiology service, enabling us to deliver a world-class service.”
