Online veterinary pharmacy VetMedi.co.uk has strengthened its clinical capacity with the appointment of a new veterinary surgeon, as the company scales up to meet surging online demand for affordable animal care.
The York-based company has officially welcomed veterinary surgeon Harriette Woolley to its expanding team, marking another step forward in its commitment to providing high-quality, cost-effective care for animals across Yorkshire and the UK.
Harriette joins the company as dispensing veterinary surgeon, bringing 15 years of experience to the team. In this role, she will be responsible for clinical prescription validation and providing expert guidance to animal owners, ensuring that as the business grows, patient safety and professional oversight remain at the forefront.
The appointment marks the next major milestone for the business, with the expansion set to increase the volume of orders delivered directly to UK doorsteps, whilst maintaining an immediate hands-on service through its local community dispensary.
Harriette’s arrival follows a move to the pharmacy’s new premises at York North Business Park in Sutton-on-the-Forest. Since its establishment in 2021, VetMedi has reported a significant 85% year-on-year sales increase, driven by a growing shift toward digital veterinary services.
The recent relocation allowed the online veterinary pharmacy to triple its daily order capacity and improve logistics, featuring dedicated large-vehicle access for deliveries and collections. This infrastructure provides VetMedi with the opportunity to expand headcount further across its office, warehouse, and dispensary teams over the coming year.
This growth comes at a pivotal time for the industry, as UK animal owners welcome a crackdown on rising vet fees following measures launched by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to reduce costs including a cap on prescription fees, published price lists and a cost comparison site for animal owners.
Speaking on the expansion, VetMedi.co.uk founder and veterinarian of 14 years, Dr. Charlotte Inness, was thrilled to welcome Harriette to the team.
