What Was the Best New Veterinary Drug of 2006? Who Brought You The Biggest Advance in Drug Delivery? Which Was the Animal Health Company of the Year? animalpharm_awards.gif A vet can't effectively practise without the right tools to diganose, prevent or treat disease. The first Animal Pharm Industry Excellence Awards program is designed to identify the best of those tools. Nominations have opened for the first global awards program for the animal health industry. The aim? To celebrate excellence and reward innovation among the people who develop, manufacture and market the diagnostics, vaccines and drugs in every veterinarian's armory. The awards will be independently judged by a panel that includes:Dr Pearson said he was looking forward to reviewing the applications and seeing the new developments submitted by companies from around the world. "The Animal Pharm Awards are a global project, and the companies that apply will be showcasing the best work they have done. We should encounter innovations that provide significant benefits for animals and their owners " he said. The presentation ceremony in London's striking East Wintergarden on October 12th 2006 will be hosted by remarkable Swedish veterinarian and television presenter Trude Mostue. Ms Mostue has carved out a career as British television's favourite vet while simultaneously studying for a PhD in feline neurological disorders. "I'm asked to make a lot of different appearances," Ms Mostue said. "When I was invited to present awards for innovation in the animal health industry I was especially pleased to say yes. I've worked as a vet in practice. And I'm studying in an area that presents great challenges for veterinarians. As a result, I'm very conscious of the value of the work that animal health companies do and appreciative of every innovation that makes our working lives easier - and benefits our patients." "Among other things, I'm looking forward to hearing how they're progressing with needle-free injection technology!" she added. Four of the award categories currently are sponsored. One, Animal Health Company of the Year, is sponsored by Norbrook Pharmaceuticals, manufacturers of Noromectin, Norocillin, Norotyl LA, Opticlox and Noroclav. Three are supported by companies that service and supply the animal health industry: consultants Wood McKenzie, and contract research organisations KlifoVet and IfTA Health. Norbrook founder and Managing Director, Lord Ballyedmond, said he was delighted to be supporting the awards, which represent an important 'first' for the industry. "I believe it is important to show, not only our own industry, but also veterinarians everywhere, that as a company we fervently believe in both excellence and innovation and we are proud to support initiatives that recognise and reward these qualities. Veterinarians rightly expect the highest standards of excellence from us and they deserve our best efforts in finding innovative ways to improve quality of life for both them and their patients and clients."
