The Blue Cross, Britain's pet charity, is calling for nominations from veterinary practices across the country for The Blue Cross Veterinary Nurse Award 2006.
The annual award, which takes place during the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) Annual Congress on 13 - 15 October in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, is presented to veterinary nurses in recognition of their contribution to educating the public in responsible pet ownership and the welfare of pets in the community.
Last year's was won by Cathy Preedy of Elliot's Veterinary Centre in Warrington. Cathy was chosen to receive the award for her work with the elderly and their pets. She was nominated by Deborah Bell whose mother is a client of the veterinary centre. Deborah's mother has suffered severe ill health for the last two years and Cathy has been caring for her companion, a West Highland terrier called Arran.
Nominations can be made by completing the nomination form on The Blue Cross website at - www.bluecross.org.uk/BVNA2006 or by contacting Debbie Hazell on 01993 825577 to request a nomination form. The deadline for nominations is 7 July 2006.
The Blue Cross has taken the lead in animal care for over a hundred years. Its four animal hospitals provide a lifeline for needy pet owners particularly elderly and disabled people. Without the hospitals, and the services they provide, many people would be without the benefits that pet ownership can bring.4566 views
