ThePet.net Photo: Steve Dyson Victoria Stilwell joins search for the ‘best your pet can get - Marc Abraham, the Paul O’Grady Show’s veterinary expert has set up a new website www.thepet.net aimed at involving the nation’s pet owners to revolutionise the pet industry. Launching this autumn, the website aims to be the most trusted and up-to-date source of pet information available. The ground-breaking project will be the first to use the power of social networks on the internet - in the same way as Facebook - to allow pet owners to join together, share and even rate their own pet-related experiences, and to help each other find the best their pet can get. Pet owners will be able to search across reviews of pet friendly hotels, groomers, stables, bars, shops, kennels, catteries, vets, dog walks and much more to discover what other pet owners are recommending. Where possible, they will also be able to go on to book these services online. Celebrity dog behaviourist Victoria Stilwell (It’s Me or the Dog) has given the website her seal of approval and joined Marc as he started his search for the ‘best your pet can get’ at this years world-famous Crufts Dog Show in Birmingham. Marc commented: “After working in the pet industry as a vet for 13 years, I believe it’s time for a much-needed shake-up. Increasing corporate attitudes, widespread complacency and lack of the personal touch are turning pets into luxury items when they were once just a normal part of everyone’s family.” ThePet.net will be totally customisable (in the style of the new BBC website or iGoogle) allowing the user to create their own personalised web experience unique to them and their pet. Cast Your Opinions All pet owners are encouraged to go to ThePet.net website now and enter their details, where they will soon be able to give their opinions on the services they receive from the pet industry whether it is pet-friendly hotels, pubs, vets, catteries, kennels or even groomers. ThePet.net is encouraging pet owners to sign-up to the website by entering those who join into a competition to win a luxury break for two with their pet in the 5 star ultra-pet-friendly Milestone Hotel in London. Pet businesses wishing to reach this audience, will be able to undertake highly targeted marketing using banner advertising, email marketing and paid search advertising on the site. A proportion of money generated will be donated to animal charities. ThePet.net is also interested to hear from forward-thinking and animal-loving businesses or individuals who would be interested becoming one of the sponsors of this unique and ground-breaking project.
