Qualifiers for the Petplan Junior Stakes Final 2010 were selected at last week’s Southern Counties show in Newbury, West Berkshire.
The revamped Petplan Junior Stakes Qualifiers saw over 290 dogs enter the show, across the seven groups making the competition extremely close.
The group winners through to the Petplan Junior Stakes Final 2010 are:
Gundog Group – Ansona Simple Simon, Pointer
Hound Group – Saxonmill Midnight Majic, Afghan Hound
Pastoral Group – Allmark Lenny Henry, Australian Shepherd
Terrier Group – Saredon Showtime to Arkama, Kerry Blue Terrier
Toy Group – Donzeata Royal Taffeta, Griffon Bruxellois
Utility Group – Witchgait Sounds Terrific, Shar Pei
Working Group – Coldasice Phoenix Rising, Siberian Husky
To help attract more people to the show Petplan produced booklets to help explain the basics of dog showing as well as providing expert guides at the venues. The guides were available to give tours, explaining the different aspects of the show, as well as answering any questions and queries.
Petplan’s Marketing Manager Alison Andrew commented, “We are thrilled that our new format was so successful at the second Petplan Junior Stakes Show in Newbury. The event was excellent and well received by the general public; we attracted a strong group of competitors, and recorded a 25% increase on last year on car park entry. Our aim was to draw more people to the event which we did, with several customers visiting the Petplan customer marquee over the three days. Our guided tours and handbooks were additional benefits to newcomers, as it allowed them to understand and see what a dog show is all about.”
The Petplan Junior Stake Qualifier in Southern Counties was the second of four Petplan Junior Stake Qualifiers taking place this year. The remaining shows will be held at Blackpool and City of Birmingham before culminating in the final at Manchester’s 2011 show.
