With the economy still performing somewhat erratically, practices need to look seriously at any area of their business that can potentially increase profits. So says Rebekka Fiorani, VPMA President. The association has now dedicated a day long stream at VPMA Congress 2012 to developing a more professional approach to retail sales to help practices harness the opportunities.
The session will be opened by Karen Pickwick, Director at Pet Business World – a publication aimed at retailers in the pet sector. Karen has been immersed in the world of pet product retailing for many years and has access to all the leading figures in the field. She will share her thoughts about the market for pet products and what constitutes best practice.
Those ideas will be developed further by Jane Fletcher of Smart Incorporates, who will describe how to develop a retail mindset and retail professionally. Stephen Barabas of Animal Oracle will explain how practices can develop their on line selling capability and Cathy Gurney of CGA takes on the task of helping individuals and teams to develop their selling skills.
The stream promises to give delegates a comprehensive overview of the business of retailing and to spark some new ideas about developing an often under utilised source of potential profit.
Rebekka Fiorani commented, “Some practices have shied away from retailing because they believe it compromises their professional status. We hope this stream will demonstrate that that need not be the case and that there is huge scope to improve patient wellbeing and develop client loyalty by providing expert recommendation of the right products.”
