SPILLERS Promotes Key Players
Three key players at SPILLERS™ have been promoted: Clare Barfoot RNutr, has been appointed Marketing and Research and Development Director from R&D Manager and Sarah Dawson has been appointed Sales Director, having previously been the Professional Sales Manager. Gordon Smith has been promoted from Marketing Director to General Manager, taking over from Jeremy Brereton, who retired at the end of 2019.
Clare Barfoot has been with SPILLERS for 21 years. One of fewer than 20 people in the UK to be registered as an equine nutritionist, Clare joined SPILLERS in May 1998, as a Care-Line Nutritionist. Shortly afterwards she was appointed Research and Development Manager, responsible for all technical aspects of the business including working closely with Professor Pat Harris to steer the nutrition research plan and lead innovation and new product development, as well as managing the Care-Line and writing extensively in the equestrian press. In her new role Clare will join the leadership team alongside Sarah to head the demand side of the business to drive the success of the company’s well-loved brands SPILLERS and WINERGY.
Clare Barfoot said: “I’m extremely committed to and passionate about the SPILLERS brand, and proud of how we partner with horse owners in their care of horses and ponies, from the beloved family friend through to equine athletes in the prime of their sporting careers. I am thrilled about my new role and am looking forward to continuing to build our brand’s position as the ultimate choice for horse owners.”
Sarah Dawson joined SPILLERS in 2012 as a competition nutritionist. She was appointed Head of the Professional Sales Team in 2015 and has been responsible for both national end-user business and export sales. As Sales Director Sarah will oversee the trade, end-user and international sales, driving demand of the SPILLERS and WINERGY brands alongside Clare.
“I am very excited to be stepping up to lead our strong and enthusiastic SPILLERS and WINERGY sales teams and look forward to working closely with Clare to continue to make a better world for horses.”
Jeremy Brereton was General Manager for more than 20 years, successfully leading the Spillers team in the UK as well as the Mars Horsecare business in the US. Gordon Smith succeeds him as General Manager from the beginning of January 2020.
Gordon Smith said: “We are proud to have developed an exceptionally strong team at SPILLERS, enabling us to promote from within. Retaining such continuity allows SPILLERS to continue to deliver great customer value and build on its considerable strengths as one of the UK’s most reliable and popular feed brands. We wish Jeremy all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”
SPILLERS produces feeds to suit all types, including a range of superior fibres and balancers, Laminitis Trust approved feeds and BETA EGUS certified products.
