ROYAL CANIN this week hosted 38 students from 18 countries, including seven students from the UK. Hosted at Royal Canin’s central campus in Aimargues, France, the event brought together representatives from some of the world’s top veterinary universities.

The two-day event saw ROYAL CANIN share scientific insight behind their diets, with workshops, networking, team activities and expert talks. The event culminated with a tour of the ROYAL CANIN campus and an opportunity for each country’s Ambassador to present their learnings.

Jenna Webster, ROYAL CANIN Student Ambassador and Final Year student at The Royal Veterinary College, said: “I was lucky enough to not only spend three days in Montpellier with seven other ROYAL CANIN Student Ambassadors from the UK and Ireland, but also had the opportunity to meet other Ambassadors from around the world. I found the campus tour extremely insightful and saw first-hand how nutrients are developed, equipping me to confidently explain the science behind ROYAL CANIN diets.

“My role as a Royal Canin Ambassador has allowed me to take part in international trips but also support students at my own University. I am currently planning for the ROYAL CANIN Nutritional Roadshow which this year will be covering the topic of obesity. Nutrition is a subject that I am hugely passionate about, both personally and professionally, so to be able to be supported by ROYAL CANIN and in turn, support students at the RVC has been an incredible opportunity.”

Clare Hemmings, Scientific Communications Manager at ROYAL CANIN, said: “Since 2004 ROYAL CANIN has supported the vets of the future through the Student Ambassador Programme. The experience gives students the opportunity to develop their nutritional knowledge and share learnings with many of the 5,000 plus vet students across the UK and Ireland.

“The event has provided students with invaluable insights into cat and dog nutrition, and a fantastic opportunity to network with their international peers.”
