An innovative business which ensures the welfare of animals on TV and film sets has been commissioned to monitor animal welfare at Dog Fest this year.

Vet On Set, which was founded by the UK's leading canine first aider Rachel Bean RVN from Oldham, and Animal Direction founder Davina Hamilton Maddox, will provide veterinary monitoring and welfare assistance at Dog Fest events this summer.

The team have  strong pedigree working in the entertainment sector, and have worked on sets with the likes of the late Robbie Coltrane and on TV shows such as Judge Rinder and Brassic.

Based in Manchester's Media City, the company works hard to ensure that production companies understand their responsibilities when it comes to animal stars.

Rachel Bean, who travels the country giving canine first aid demonstrations, and wrote the iPET Network's course on the subject, said: "Dog Fest is a wonderful event, and we are thrilled to have been selected to offer welfare and monitoring at the show.

"It will be our job to ensure that the event is fun and enriching for the dogs that attend and take part, and that welfare is not compromised in any demonstrations or events.

"We can't wait for Dog Fest, and look forward to meeting visitors too, and sharing our experiences with them."

Dog Fest festivals take part on dates between May and September at Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire, Loseley Park, Surrey, Ragley hall, Warwickshire, Tatton Park, Cheshire, Atherton Court, Bristol, Knebworth House, Hertfordshire and Harewood House, Yorkshire.

Each festival takes place over two days and features world class displays from top canine athletes, free expert advice and workshops, have-a-go activities, shopping opportunities and dog-friendly stalls.
