In the weeks leading up to Christmas, many veterinary surgeries have hosted different events to support homeless and less fortunate pets.

A number of Vets4Pets practices got together with their local communities to bring Christmas joy to pets that don’t have anyone to care for them.

Vets4Pets Canterbury Sturry Road teamed up with Catching Lives, a local independent charity aimed at helping rough sleepers and the homeless in Canterbury, and provided a free health check as well as a full and wash pamper with Groom Room, to dogs belonging to homeless people in the local area.

The health check included full flea and worming treatments and the dogs also enjoyed some free dog food.

The practice saw a positive response, with a big turnout of dogs and their owners.

In Buckingham, the Vets4Pets practice is looking to rehome 12 kittens as part of their ‘12 Days of Christmas’ initiative.

The practice joined forces with the RSPCA to try and rehome the kittens, whilst also offering free vaccinations.

The Vets4Pets Belfast Stormont team called on their local community to donate toys, bedding, treats and food to a national shoe box appeal.

The practice became an official drop off point for shoe box donations and the team were proud to be able to bring some joy to many rescue or homeless pets through the many generous donations.

Chief executive of the Pets at Home Vet Group, Sally Hopson, said: “We are incredibly proud to see so many of our practices and teams getting involved in brilliant events to help less fortunate pets this Christmas.

“As a group our main ethos is putting pets first and that is a yearlong promise which we always strive to uphold.

“Our practices’ current activity to bring Christmas joy to homeless pets or pets in rescue centres, is a great example of this and it’s been wonderful to see our practices getting involved with their local communities too.

“We want to thank all the practices for their hard work and hope all the pets that they have helped enjoy a very Merry Christmas.”
