Vets4pets Supports Student Vets With Launch Of New Scholarship Programme

Vets4Pets has launched its scholarship programme in partnership with The University of Nottingham’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, providing a total of £90k to fund 10 student scholarships. This follows the establishment of Vets4Pets’ extra-mural studies (EMS) bursary scheme, the first of its kind, offering up to £40,000 to support veterinary students across the country as they undertake the required pre-clinical and clinical placements.
Veterinary studies can be costly, causing additional financial strain and pressure on students starting out in their careers. Through the combination of the scholarship and bursary programmes, Vets4Pets hopes to financially empower more people to enter the profession who may have otherwise faced financial barriers, and to promote social mobility across the industry. The schemes also aim to reduce the stress facing students, helping to promote wellbeing so that students are better positioned to continue to build and develop their experience in supporting and caring for pets. The scholarships will be awarded through the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Sciences to successful applicants in May.
The EMS bursary scheme, launched on 1st March, will commit financial support for 60 students annually. Applications for the EMS bursary scheme are open throughout March 2022 for placements beginning in summer, and students can find out more at: www.vets4pets.com/ems
Successful applicants will receive £334 per week during their placements in participating Vets4Pets practices and will also have access to a fast-track application to the Vets4Pets Graduate Programme.
