Baby gorillas The Webinar Vet is calling all vets to take part in the Gorilla challenge to earn CPD points and help raise money for Uganda’s endangered Gorillas at the same time! The Gorilla Challenge is a social media campaign and all part of the International Webinar Vet Virtual 2015 Congress. The company will be forwarding 10% of all delegate fees to help Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) an organisation dedicated to the coexistence of endangered mountain gorillas, other wildlife, humans, and livestock in Africa. Webinar Vet founder Antony Chadwick MRCVS explains; “I was fortunate to have the chance to see these magnificent creatures ten years ago. There are many people involved with this long-term project led by CTPH founder, veterinarian Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka, and is an inspiration to us all.” Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka was Uganda's first woman to be the country's wildlife veterinary officer and was the star of the BBC documentary, Gladys the African Vet. In 2009 she won the Whitley Gold Award for her conservation work. “The aim of the Gorilla Challenge is to raise awareness of the work of CTPH, and boost funding for this important work. “The more people that take part the greater the publicity, and the more money we are likely to raise – either from delegates fees or just straight donations,” adds Anthony. The 2015 virtual congress is set for Saturday 10th January, and will provide 24 hours of high quality veterinary CPD to delegates across the globe. The packed list of topics includes soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging, immune-mediated skin disease, haematology and feline and canine liver disease. It starts at midnight GMT on 10th January 2014 with continuous streams for 24 hours. The event is open to non-members as well as members. For more information, including BVA discounts or to reserve a place visit www.theinternationalwebinarvet.com For anyone wanting to take part they are advised to visit www.theinternationalwebinarvet.com/gorillachallenge and download your mask.
