Zoetis Publishes Guidance On Responsible Use Of Parasiticides In Dermatology
Leatherhead, UK – January 21, 2025 – Zoetis UK Ltd today announced the publication of a technical bulletin for veterinary professionals on the responsible use of parasiticides in dermatology.
Parasiticides are an important tool for the control of external and internal parasites to protect human and animal health but must be used responsibly, not only to preserve their efficacy and prevent resistance but also to protect the environment.
This guidance , which was commissioned by Zoetis and written by Hany Elsheikha, Head of the European Scientific Counsel for Companion Animal Parasites (ESCCAP), focuses on the responsible use of parasiticides for ectoparasite control in companion animals. Furthermore, there is a specific focus on use within dermatology, an area that Zoetis has supported vets in for 10 years, with Apoquel®, Cytopoint® and more recently Apoquel Chewable®.
“Zoetis is proud to have created this important guidance to support veterinary surgeons in their decision making in dermatology cases,” said Louise Longstaff, National Veterinary Manager - Companion Animal, at Zoetis. “The document provides information to assist veterinarians in the management of their dermatology cases and is one of a number of resources we have which demonstrates our commitment to supporting veterinarians in the responsible use of parasiticides.”
