This course provides a practical introduction to laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery, with the emphasis on basic laparoscopic techniques that can be performed in first opinion practice. The advantages and disadvantages of minimally invasive procedures will be discussed and there will be a brief overview of instrumentation and instrument handling techniques, followed by a more detailed discussion of laparoscopic principles, the approach to the abdomen and laparoscopic organ biopsies.
