A 5 part series on The Growing Problems of Fat Cats with Martha Cannon.
Course synopsis:
More than 25% of the cats in the UK are classed as overweight or obese-although in Practice this number seems much higher as they have many related health issues so they can present more often to the clinic than their slimmer feline friends. This one-day course will focus on the “growing” issue of feline obesity and their associated health problems, including diabetes mellitus , feline lower urinary tract disease and hepatic lipidosis. The placement and management of commonly used feeding tubes will also be discussed as essential care for some of these cases. Finally tips and advice will be given on how to run successful weight clinics to reduce the percentage of fat cats in your care.
Topics to be covered include:
-Diabetes Mellitus
-Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease
-Hepatic Lipidosis
-Placement and management of the commonly used feeding tubes
-Tackling Obesity: how to run successful weight clinics for cats
