Appropriate physiotherapeutic intervention and rehabilitation techniques can greatly enhance outcomes in recovery following surgery and aid in return to normal function. This course will look at the immediate post-surgical care and early rehabilitation of canine and feline patients, with reference to both orthopaedic and neurological cases. A combination of theory and practical sessions will be used to explore the interventions and techniques used in early rehabilitation and give you the confidence to use them in practice.The theoretical component of this course aims to refresh your knowledge of anatomy and physiology, including tissue healing, so you can explore the basis for the interventions we choose to use with our patients and the principles behind their use.A significant part of the day will be spent in practical sessions giving you the opportunity to practice the techniques discussed in the lectures.Dogs are required for the practical demonstrations, please contact us before booking if you are not able to bring a dog along with you to the courseTopics to be covered include:Enhancement of tissue healingThermotherapyElectrotherapyManual techniques such as massage and stretchingExercise therapyOrthopaedic and neurological case discussions to explore recommended treatment plans
