Chronic kidney disease is commonly encountered in practice and a condition where nurses can make a huge impact on the quality of life of patients both when hospitalised and in nurse clinics. This one-day course is designed to help nurses develop and advance their understanding of the disease starting with an overview of the pathogenesis and the new classification of renal disease according to the IRIS system. The day will then move on to focus on the nurses role in the care of these patients including nutritional plans, assisted feeding methods, fluid therapy and blood pressure monitoring.
