This one-day practical workshop is designed for vets working in practice who wish to learn or refine an approach to total ear canal ablation. Management options and surgical considerations are covered in a morning of lectures, allowing practical skills to be practiced during the cadaver-based wetlab session in the afternoon under the close supervision of the course tutors.
Learning Outcomes:
Develop an understanding of the pathophysiology of otitis externa and media and a logical and practical approach to medical and surgical management of these cases
Revise the anatomy of the canine ear in the context of total ear canal ablation, with a view to optimising surgical results and minimising complications
Understand the salient differences in anatomy of the feline ear, and how this impacts on surgical indications and approach
Demonstrate the practical skills required to perform total ear canal ablation in practice
