Orthopaedic Focus | Leadership role across three Greater London sites
If You’re Ready to Lead Surgery Properly
If you’re an experienced surgical vet who feels ready for more ownership, more complex cases, and the chance to truly shape a service rather than just deliver it, this could be the step you’ve been waiting for.
The Opportunity
We’re working with an award-winning, purpose-built veterinary group in London that is creating a brand-new Surgical Lead role across three Greater London sites.
This is not about filling a rota gap. It’s about building something. With over 12,000 active clients already registered across their London practices, there is a ready-made caseload for orthopaedics and complex soft tissue work. They are looking for an AVP, experienced Senior Vet, or certificate holder in orthopaedics who wants to develop and lead an in-house surgical offering, while mentoring colleagues and elevating standards across sites.
All three surgeries are within 30 minutes of central London by underground or overground, or around 45 minutes by car. You’ll have variety in your week, autonomy in your clinical decisions, and the chance to grow a referral-style caseload without losing the feel of general practice.
Why This Role Is Different
A Genuine Surgical Focus
This role is surgically biased, with a strong emphasis on orthopaedics and complex soft tissue. You will still run some consultations, primarily to build your caseload and manage post-operative checks, but the core of your week is theatre time and case progression.
Purpose-Built, Properly Equipped
You will be working in spacious, thoughtfully designed surgeries equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical tools to support advanced procedures. These are clinics built around patient journey, client experience, and team wellbeing, not retrofitted spaces.
A Caseload Ready and Waiting
With 12,000 active clients, there is immediate demand for in-house orthopaedics. There is also scope to attract new clients and accept external referrals. This is an opportunity to establish a reputation and grow a service, not start from scratch.
Leadership Without Isolation
You will train and mentor colleagues across the sites, helping to elevate surgical confidence and standards. They are specifically looking for someone with strong soft skills who can integrate seamlessly into different teams and build trust with both clients and colleagues.
Built-In Admin Time
You will receive daily admin time, allowing you to properly manage cases, call clients, and plan procedures without constantly overrunning.
Your Journey Here
In Your First Month:
You will spend time understanding how each site operates, building relationships with the teams, and assessing current surgical workflows. You will begin taking on orthopaedic cases and establishing clear communication pathways with colleagues.
By Three Months:
You will be confidently managing complex cases across sites, mentoring other vets, and developing a consistent surgical pathway. Clients will begin to recognise you as the go-to for advanced procedures.
By Six Months:
You will have shaped and strengthened the in-house orthopaedic offering, increased surgical capacity, and become a key clinical leader across the London group. There is real scope here to influence direction and standards long term.
