Abandoned Pets Get Tasty Treats Thanks To Kind Staff From Vygon Vet

Abandoned cats and dogs from a Gloucestershire rescue centre are tucking into some tasty treats and goodies thanks to kind-hearted animal-lovers from Vygon Vet. Dog and cat-loving staff from the Swindon-based company collected dozens of treats and titbits for unwanted pets currently living at the Teckels Animal Sanctuary at Whitminster, near Stroud. The Sanctuary is Vygon Vet’s nominated charity of the year and the company, that supplies medical products to vets across the UK, decided a food collection was a great way to help its furry residents. Louise Cannon, Chairperson of Vygon Vet’s charity committee, said: “There are a lot of animal-lovers who work here and being in this industry it was an obvious choice to support an animal charity. Teckels does some wonderful work and is full to bursting with unwanted cats and dogs from around the county. Their running costs are high, but if we all do our bit to support them it helps.” The Sanctuary is currently at full capacity with 15 rescue dogs and 20 cats. Sanctuary Manager Clare Campbell said: “It costs us about £20,000 each month to run the centre and we are always full with unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats. As a registered charity all support is very much appreciated and we are always keen to receive cat food and dog treats so we’re very grateful to Vygon Vet for its donation.” Teckels became a registered charity in 2003 and has rescued and re-homed thousands of cats and dogs. It takes in the majority of its strays and unwanted animals from within the Stroud District Council area, but also takes animals from other parts of Gloucestershire.
