One of the UK’s most respected veterinary eye clinics has further boosted its surgical expertise with the appointment of an internationally renowned ophthalmology specialist.

Laurence Occelli, an American Board Diplomate in Veterinary Ophthalmology, joins Linnaeus-owned Veterinary Vision, which has three practices in the north of England.

Laurence, who has authored multiple articles, has extensive experience working within universities and private practice in Europe, Canada and the United States.

Among Laurence’s qualifications are a Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia, a Certificat d’Etudes Supérieures d’Ophthalmologie Vétérinaire, a Diplôme Universitaire de Microchirurgie Ophthalmologique and a PhD with Pr. Simon Petersen-Jones at Michigan State University.

Laurence’s clinical and research interests include inherited retinal degeneration, gene therapy, retinal imaging and retinal surgery.

“I’m really looking forward to joining the expert team at Veterinary Vision and working within a busy, dedicated ophthalmology referral hospital in the UK,” said Laurence.

Other highlights in Laurence’s career include being a senior research scientist. Within her new role at Veterinary Vision, Laurence will still serve as an adjunct faculty for Michigan State University.

Veterinary Vision’s clinical director Chris Dixon said: “Laurence has vast expertise from her pioneering work in the US, and we are looking forward to her joining the Veterinary Vision team.”

Veterinary Vision is equipped for all types of ocular surgery with 11 veterinary ophthalmologists offering a vast range of experience and knowledge in small animal, and equine eye conditions.
