Second year as main sponsor for Hertfordshire based ethical pet food manufacturer
PupAid - Europe’s biggest campaign to end the cruel practice of puppy farming - will once again be sponsored by British dog food company Barking Heads. Puppy farming is the mass production of puppies in horrific conditions to be sold from pet shops, websites, garden centres, private dealers, and free newspaper listings.
Combatting this cruel industry - PupAid – a national animal welfare campaign with huge celebrity support started 5 years ago by TV Vet Marc Abraham - continues to raise awareness about puppy farming and educates prospective dog owners on the best most responsible way to choose a dog, i.e. adopt from a rescue shelter or always see mum interacting with puppy.
Barking Heads founder Paul Hunter says “We’re very proud supporters of PupAid and passionate in wanting to stop puppy farming. Barking Heads have been supporting PupAid’s campaign for nearly two years through event sponsorship, packaging, donations, social media, and are committed to giving a monthly donation from all our puppy product sales too.”
Paul continues “Our faithful furry friends need to be bred by secure, safe, knowledgeable breeders; who know and understand health issues and strong family blood lines rather than only thinking on money as the first priority.”
TV Vet and founder of PupAid, Marc Abraham says “On behalf of my PupAid team of volunteers we can’t thank Barking Heads enough for their generous support enabling us to campaign and fight the cruel puppy farming trade.”
Last year, as well as their well-attended fun dog show in London’s exclusive Primrose Hill, PupAid launched a government e-petition asking for a ban the sale of puppies and kittens without their mums. The petition quickly collected 100,000 signatures - the necessary amount to trigger a debate in the House of Commons – taking place in March 2014.
Barking Heads Paul says “We hope that Parliament will commit and see the pain that is being caused to puppies and kittens and their new families, and finally put a stop to all commercial puppy farming. Until that time comes we are committed to ensuring health of all puppies and kittens is of the highest priority.”
