Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in Old Windsor has been given a helping hand to aid their valuable work thanks to a £500 donation from Petplan, the UK’s No.1 pet insurance provider. Each month, Petplan randomly selects one of their registered animal charities in a prize draw to receive £500.
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in Old Windsor is a charity that is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals. The charity operates on a non-selective intake policy, offering dogs and cats of all breeds and ages expert care.
Melissa Clarke, Communications Officer at Battersea, said: “The donation will be used to maintain the high quality of care that the dogs and cats receive at our Old Windsor home. As the charity does not receive any government funding, the money will make a big difference to the centre.”
Ingrid Wakefield, Acting Head of Marketing at Petplan said: “At Petplan we work with over 1,200 animal charities, more than any other insurer. We understand the challenges animal charities face and provide 4 weeks' free insurance to anyone rehoming a pet from one of our animal charities.”
Ingrid continues: “Pet insurance can help pet owners cover the cost of unexpected veterinary treatment and provides reassurance for adopters during those precious first weeks whilst an adopted animal settles into its new home. It also offers peace of mind for charities; uninsured animals are more likely to be returned to the rehoming centre if they are ill or injured. Having your pet insured is an important part of taking care of its future health.”
