The British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) has organised an interactive clinical workshop to help equine vets get to grips with the recent changes, challenges and contentious issues surrounding the pre-purchase examination. Delegates will also have the chance to hear Dr Philip Batty, former doctor for Manchester City Football Club, talking about how the PPEs of premiership footballers compare with those of high-value competition horses.
The one day workshop, to be held at the Manchester Conference Centre on Wednesday 12 December 2012, is aimed at all vets who perform equine pre-purchase examinations. Led by those involved with implementing the certificate changes, the course should provide for stimulating and enlightening discussion on many of the more testing aspects of PPE. It will tackle the recent changes to the certificate and guidance notes and the implications of those changes.
Speakers Malcolm Morley, Frederic Barrelet, Ian Camm, David Green, Liam Kearns and Tim Mair will be covering:
- Radiography and the PPE
- Insurance and the PPE
- What's different about vetting the thoroughbred racehorse?
- What's different about vetting the high value competition horse?
- Contentious aspects of the PPE
Dr Philip Batty, until recently the doctor for Manchester City Football Club, will be adding a more genial touch to the day with a look at how the pre-purchase examination of a premiership footballer compares to that of a top equine athlete, as well as revealing some stories from behind the scenes of the world’s richest football club.
Manchester Conference Centre is just 5 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station, which is easily accessible from all over the UK.
Course fees are £200 for BEVA members, £295 for non members and £80 for BEVA student members. Delegates will receive reduced accommodation costs at the Days Inn Manchester, subject to availability. Places are filling up fast - to find out more and to book visit
