A LUXURY cattery is among the improvements planned during a major revamp of a Runcorn veterinary practice.

Work is underway to transform The Laurels, which is a branch of Willows Veterinary Group, into a modern, vibrant practice with enhanced facilities for clients and their pets.

Feline patients will benefit from a separate cattery, with an upstairs cat consulting and waiting room. The new facilities will be away from dogs and help make visiting the vets less stressful for cats.

Improvements will also be made to reception for client comfort and there will be an expansion of the theatre, where operations are carried out, and consult rooms will be revamped.

The project is being funded by VetPartners, the larger veterinary group of which Willows Veterinary Group is a part.

Clinical Director Amy Sutton said: “This is an exciting project for us as it is going to really transform the practice and improve the comfort of both clients and pets. Due to Covid restrictions, clients have not been able to come into the practice, but we are looking forward to welcoming them back in again soon to a new and refreshed waiting room and reception.

“The relocated cattery and upstairs facilities will be a fantastic addition for our feline patients.

“The practice was in need of improvements and we are updating everything, including a new x-ray and operating theatre. It will allow us to utilise the whole building, which will help us to deliver an even better service for our patients and an improved experience for clients.

“The refurbishment will also create a much nicer working environment for our dedicated team and will transform what we are able do.”

Building work at the practice in Victoria Road started in May and is expected to be completed in August.

The Laurels employs 17 team members, including five vets, six veterinary nurses, five receptionists and an administrator.
