BVA Welcomes New Strategic Alliance Between AFBI And Queens University Belfast
The British Veterinary Association has welcomed plans announced today (Friday 18 May) for a strategic alliance between the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) and Queen’s University Belfast.
Under the agreement, both institutions will form a research and education partnership and pool resources and expertise to support the development and expansion of the agri-food industry. The alliance will work across three core themes: enabling innovation, facilitating new ways of working and partnerships.
BVA Northern Ireland Branch Junior Vice President, Aurelie Moralis commented: “This is an excellent and very timely joining of forces, which will enable both organisations to maximise the contribution they can make towards supporting future leaders and developing new and innovative ways to help understand and address the challenges faced by agri-food and production sectors both locally and globally.
“An alliance between two world-leading institutions also offers major benefits in the fields of global food security, disease surveillance and preparedness for epizootic disease, as well as significant opportunities for collaboration on animal health and welfare research.”
