Following the success of the first Veterinary Marketing Association (VMA) Award for PR, the organising committee has confirmed details for the 2012 award. The aim of the PR award is to recognise the value that media and public relations can add to the marketing mix, says event organiser Claire Edmunds. “Last year’s entries provided the judges with a plenty to work on, and after a tight contest the 2011 award was given to Bayer Animal Health for their Profender Spot On campaign ‘The Secret Lives of Cats’,” says Mrs Edmunds. Tracey Dawson, Group Product Manager at Bayer Animal Health says that winning an award is always a cause to celebrate: “A well-deserved pat on the back from your industry peers, recognising the hard work and dedication behind every successful campaign. And winning the PR category at the Veterinary Marketing Awards was no exception.” Emma Begg, Animal Health Account Manager at Pegasus PR, the agency that ran the campaign was delighted with the outcome: “We had plenty to celebrate this year after picking up a trio of accolades at the Veterinary Marketing Awards. A particular highlight was winning Gold in the PR category for the ‘Secret Lives of Cats’ campaign – on behalf of Bayer Animal Health.” The award is given to the company or veterinary practice that has delivered the most effective PR campaign during the previous year, as judged by a panel of industry professionals. “The standard of entries for the first year of the award was very high,” says Mrs Edmunds. “The VMA Awards has become a coveted event for those involved in the animal health industry to showcase their marketing achievements. A range of categories has evolved since the awards began over 20 years ago, for marketing, creative communication and new media campaigns,” she adds. Sponsored by Splash Marketing & Design, the award is for the most innovative PR initiative published during the year. This can be a single ‘one-off’ event or article, or a sustained campaign over a given period. The winner and two highly commended entries will be announced at the VMA Awards on Friday 15th March 2013, at Shakespeare's UnderGlobe Theatre, London. Entry is easy and the deadline for entries is Friday 25th January 2013. Further information on the awards and ticket application forms are available at the VMA’s website – www.vma.org.uk or by calling 0844 561 6157.
