Calling For Nominations For The Saddle Research Trust Awards

Do you know a human, a horse, an organisation or a piece of equipment that has had a beneficial influence on equine welfare and performance? If so they may be eligible for one of eight prestigious Saddle Research Trust (SRT) Awards, to be presented at the Saddle Research Trust Conference this December.
The third SRT International Conference entitled Horse, Rider, Saddlery Interactions: Welfare and Performance will be held on Saturday 8th December at Nottingham University’s De Vere Conference Centre. Jointly sponsored by World Horse Welfare and WOW Saddles, the event will showcase the latest scientific research with presentations from world-renowned equine vets, scientists and researchers. Students, industry professionals and horse owners will have the opportunity to learn about the application of science to horses, riders and saddlery to help improve the health and welfare of both horses and humans. The research to be presented at the Conference in December includes keynote presentations from Dr Sue Dyson and Professor Hilary Clayton. The SRT conference is approved CPD training for many industry professional organisations, including the British Equine Veterinary Association and the Society of Master Saddlers.
In the evening there will be a Gala Awards Dinner with special guests, which promises to be the perfect post-conference, pre-Christmas networking party. This year, for the first time, the SRT has introduced a collection of eight prestigious awards to applaud important contributions to equine performance and welfare. Anyone can make nominations (excluding the Saddle Research Trust Board of Trustees).
We would like to hear from you with your nominations for:
· The person who in your opinion has been most influential in furthering welfare and performance in the ridden horse.
· The organisation that really makes a difference and demonstrates welfare and performance as key.
· The app that you have found to really improve your horse/rider/saddlery interactions.
· The saddlery/equipment that has had the greatest positive impact on performance and welfare of horse and or rider.
· The horse/pony/equine who has shown how performance can be achieved/bettered when welfare and/or performance issues are overcome or improved.
· The achievement that has created greatest impact in promoting the best in welfare and performance.
· The registered practitioner: (e.g. vet, saddle fitter or an equine therapist) who deserves recognition for their work.
· The website that has proved to be informative, inspiring and educational.
Voting will be by a people’s choice poll once the nomination period has ended. The SRT is not eligible for any of the awards. Nominations must be received no later than 31st July 2018.
Limited tickets for the conference and the gala awards dinner are still available. There are also limited opportunities to sponsor some of the awards.
