Ceva Animal Health is hosting a free cardiorespiratory webinar entitled ‘Keeping in the loop’ to update veterinary surgeons on the diagnosis and treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs.

Presented by Emily Dutton BVM&S, CERT VC, DVC, MRCVS, RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology, the online seminar, which counts for one hour’s CPD, takes place at 8pm on Wednesday 15 September and will then be available on demand.

A dog in CHF is a reasonably common presentation in first opinion practice and with increased availability of specialist imaging and cardiology referral services, some first opinion vets may not feel confident in the diagnosis and treatment of CHF.  The webinar will bring vets up to date with the latest recommendations for treating CHF in dogs (ACVIM Guidelines 2019) and provide a refresher for assessment and diagnosis.  The topics covered in the webinar include: understanding the importance of a clinical examination when presented with cardiorespiratory cases (especially when advanced ultrasonography isn’t available); increasing confidence in the diagnosis of heart failure in first opinion practice; radiographic signs of canine congestive heart failure; using and choosing appropriate diuretics with a special emphasis on torasemide and assessing the need for evidence based medicine for good outcomes in first opinion cardiology.
