Ceva's New Cardio Academy Module Discusses The Clinical Significance Of Heart Murmurs In Cats

A new module has been added to Cardio Academy covering the clinical significance of heart murmurs in cats. Hosted by Virginia Luis-Fuentes, Professor of Veterinary Cardiology at the Royal Veterinary College, the presentation covers heart murmurs which are extremely common and known to affect up to 40% of cats at some point in their life. However, more often, these cats are clinically normal at presentation. There are many possible causes ranging from stress, heart disease, hyperthyroidism and hypertension. To make things even more confusing, over 50% with congestive heart failure do not have a heart murmur at all! The online seminar will provide guidance as to how to decide which heart murmurs are significant and work out which are more likely to develop complications, such as congestive heart failure or aortic thromboembolism. The module will last for 20 minutes and, after viewing, delegates will be able to receive a CPD certificate by answering questions relating to the session.
