College Attends 2019 Royal Highland Show For The First Time
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is delighted to be exhibiting at the Royal Highland Show this year for the first time, highlighting the work of the College amongst both the wider industry and public.
The Royal Highland Show, running from Thursday 20 June to Sunday 23 June, will be held at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Newbridge EH28 8NB. The RCVS stand will be situated within the Equestrian Village section of the show and will be open from 9.00 until 18.00 Thursday through Saturday and 9.00 until 17.00 on Sunday.
RCVS Council members and staff will be on hand at stand 492, to answer any queries and to share information on the College’s key initiatives and programmes.
“We’re excited to be attending the Royal Highland Show and are looking forward to meeting members of the both the public and wider animal health industry to talk about our role and work,” says Ian Holloway, RCVS Director of Communications.
“Over the first two ‘trade’ days, we’ll be focusing on some of our key initiatives for the veterinary professions, such as our Leadership initiative and MOOC, our Mind Matters Initiative, the next ViVet Innovation Symposium this coming October and the Vet/VN Futures programmes.
“We’ll also be available to discuss with visiting stakeholders the impact of Brexit on the UK veterinary profession, emphasising the need to maintain the flow of overseas-qualified veterinary surgeons and increased funding to boost the number of domestic veterinary graduates entering the profession.
“As we are also celebrating turning 175 this year, we’ll be very keen to share the exciting commemorative initiatives we have planned over the next few months.
“During the second two ‘family’ days, we’ll transform our stand into a fun and interactive veterinary practice setting, with plenty of photo opportunities to share. We’ll have lots of vet and VN career-related activities and information for children of all ages, including the chance to dress up as a veterinary professional and try their hand at some small animal surgery or farm animal practice.
“We’ll also have lots of information for all animal owners about our Practice Standards Scheme and RCVS-accredited practices, the importance of registering pets with a veterinary practice, and our new practice/client relationship poster.”
The College will post photos of its activities at the Show on social media using the hashtag #HighlandShow, and afterwards on its Flickr page at: www.flickr.com/photos/rcvs/.
