During September and October 2015, CVS Group acquired two large veterinary practices, Alnorthumbria in the North East of England and the Torbridge Veterinary Hospital Ltd in the South West.  It also acquired the smaller Okeford Veterinary Centre, based in the South West.

Alnorthumbria, founded in  2007 by the merger of two well established Northumberland practices, the Aln Veterinary Group and The Northumbria Veterinary Partnership, operates nine sites across Northumberland at Amble, Fairmoor (two sites), Rothbury, Seahouses, Alnwick, Wooler, Ashington and Ponteland.  It employs 24 vets and has a total staff of more than 100.

Torbridge Veterinary Hospital Ltd employs around 29 staff,  including nine vets  in its hospital in Bideford, Devon, and at its branch surgeries in South Molton and Torrington.  Its  Clinical Director, Bill Slee BVet Med MRCVS, has a special interest in imaging using radiography and ultrasound.

The Okeford Veterinary Centre employs around 18 staff including six vets across its two sites in Okehampton and Chagford, Devon.

Simon Innes, Chief Executive of CVS, commented:  "Alnorthumbria is a strong fit with our existing operations, significantly increasing the Group's presence in the North East and enhancing our large animal and equine business.  The acquisition of the Torbridge Veterinary Hospital and the Okeford Veterinary Centre will boost our presence in the South West.

"We are delighted to welcome the teams from all three practices to CVS and look forward to a successful partnership."

CVS, the UK's fastest growing practice, now owns 115 practices across 310 sites in the UK.

Key to its success is CVS' ability to attract ambitious veterinary staff whilst continuing to invest in the development of their clinical skills and in research to drive the profession forward.  It also provides the business support to ensure its diverse range of small animal, large animal and equine practices achieve their full potential.   CVS'  guiding principles include a commitment to excellence in all aspects of its work and a focus on building long-term relationships with its customers and suppliers.  The company  works in close partnership with the wider veterinary profession and industry colleagues.
