CVS Team Scales Pen Y Fan To Raise Funds For Blue Cross
A team of CVS managers from the south west of the UK scaled Pen y Fan on 30 August to raise funds for Blue Cross. The mountain, located in the Brecon Beacons, is the highest peak in the south of the UK. To add some fun to their challenge, the team wore safari animal costumes during the climb which took three and a half hours to complete. They have so far raised more than £500 with donations still coming in.
The CVS South West and South Wales Hub Regional Team, led by Commercial Director Mrs Charlotte Pugh, includes her four regional directors and HR advisor. Blue Cross is CVS’ charity of the year for 2017.
Charlotte Pugh said: “Blue Cross is a fantastic charity so we wanted to do something as a team to help and to encourage all of our practices to continue with their own fundraising. Pen y Fan is closest to our base so we decided to tackle it together and, to add some fun, we dressed up as safari animals. We received a few strange looks on the day and numerous photo requests. Even better, we received a couple of donations from fellow walkers. Many of the dogs we met along the way were very confused by us. They sniffed us and barked at us and one Husky was determined to join us for a while.”
She added: “Our training regime consisted mainly of reassuring each other that the mountain wasn’t that high and that we’d be fine. It was hard work though, particularly in the costumes, so we were delighted to complete it and to raise so much money for Blue Cross. The charity does wonderful work and we are delighted to be supporting them this year.”
