Dechra has launched a hard-hitting new campaign to support its strangles vaccine, Strangvac®, to highlight the importance of vaccination, particularly during disease outbreaks.

The Strangvac ‘Closing In’ campaign aims to educate horse owners about the underestimated prevalence of strangles, the real dangers to health, commerce and reputation of the disease and the advantages and peace of mind that comes with risk-appropriate strangles vaccination.

The campaign features a targeted horse owner digital media advertising campaign via META social media platforms and programmatic advertising based on their online browsing history. The digital media campaign will run until the end of December and will encourage owners to talk to their vet about the disease and the importance of vaccination.

A new strangles practice toolkit has been launched to provide vet practices with materials that support client conversations on strangles prevention and management. An easy-to-use eBook offers access to the wide range of resources available which include content for newsletters, client evening posters and invitations, owner brochures and posters, a post-vaccination digital owner leaflet and vet car sticker. The toolkit also features a series of ready-to-use social media images to enable vet practices to easily create their own posts. The assets cover key educational messages including how strangles spreads and how vaccination can help reduce its impact.

“Strangles outbreaks continue to be reported around the UK with the Surveillance of Equine Strangles project reporting nearly 400 laboratory-confirmed strangles cases already this year,” comments Emma Jennings, brand manager for Strangvac at Dechra. “Our new ‘Closing In’ campaign will help raise awareness of the disease and the importance of strangles vaccination among owners and provide vet practices with the tools to aid discussions with clients.”
