ECC-focused CPD Event For Vets And Vet Nurses In The North West
Leading 24/7 pet emergency and referral hospital, Vets Now, Manchester is hosting a full-day CPD event on Thursday, 20 June 2024, at the Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel in Bolton.
The multi-topic programme across five dynamic streams, offering vets and vet nurses six hours of CPD, will cover the most popular and current topics such as initial fracture treatment, the management of stick injuries, post-op orthopaedic patient and dealing with clinical complaints.
Simon Hagley, Emergency and Critical Care specialist at Vets Now Manchester, is one of the Manchester hospital team who has helped build the enriching program of lectures and hands-on learning. Simon will be running a session at the event on acute kidney injury. He said:

The CPD event will feature 23 lectures delivered across five dynamic streams:
- CPR - Presented by RECOVER trainers, this stream will provide critical insights into cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, essential for any veterinary practice.
- Vet Stream – Experienced Vets Now clinicians will cover a variety of advanced veterinary topics, offering valuable information and the latest in veterinary medicine.
- Vet Nurses Stream - This stream, presented by dedicated Vets Now nurses, is tailored to the specific needs and challenges faced by veterinary nurses, ensuring practical and applicable knowledge.
- Client and Colleague Communication - In-communication experts will lead sessions on improving communication skills, a crucial aspect of managing both client relationships and team dynamics.
- Pathology - VPG experts will delve into the complexities of veterinary pathology, providing deep insights and enhancing diagnostic skills.
Simon added: “In addition to our internationally-renowned annual ECC UK Congress, which will be held in November 2024, it’s important to be able to make additional CPD available at easily accessible regional locations throughout the UK.”
Hot on the heels of the Manchester event, the Vets Now 24/7 hospital in Glasgow is offering FREE series of evening CPD events in September, October and November this year at the Hilton Doubletree, Westerwood, all focussing on ECC. The first of these events, on 05 September 2024 will see Lead OOH Veterinary Surgeon John Sheppard from Vets Now, Glasgow run an out-of-hours session on ‘What happens after dark, shouldn’t leave you in the dark’.
