Most children love animals or even look after their own pets so it made perfect sense for Sussex based independent veterinary group Grove Lodge Vets to want to be shirt sponsors for their local children’s football team for the upcoming season.
Nicknamed ‘The Mussels’ and founded over a hundred years ago in 1892, Shoreham FC successfully field a few teams of various ages every weekend from August to May, playing every home game at their Middle Road ground in Shoreham, with away games played throughout the rest of Sussex; and now for the first time Shoreham FC Under 8s will have their own shirt sponsors.
Marc Abraham, vet at Grove Lodge’s Southwick Clinic and author of children’s book Pets in Need, says “We’re incredibly proud to be supporting our local community and sponsoring Shoreham FC’s Under 8s. Most local families own a pet, and educating pet owners is essential, so it’s an obvious and fun partnership!
“Furthermore we’ll also be arranging a series of school visits in the area to help teach local children the importance of looking after their pets and making sure they’re kept happy and healthy. Grove Lodge Vets wish the little Mussels all the best for their forthcoming league campaign.”
John Rhodie Shoreham FC Under 8s Manager said “New kit launch day was one to remember, thanks to our team kit sponsor Grove Lodge Vets. It’s great to see a local organisation sponsor a local children's football team, this is what I call true community spirit and support.
“We hope that both Shoreham FC Under 8s and Grove Lodge Vets will bring together football, animal welfare and community spirit. More local companies and organisations should follow Grove Lodge Vets’ lead."
