Hamilton Specialist Referrals

Hamilton Specialist Referrals, part of IVC Evidensia, has expanded their state-of-the-art veterinary facilities to offer increased services for referring vets. The referral centre, in High Wycombe, has just launched a new building in addition to their existing premises and this bespoke space will double the capacity for consulting rooms along with a purpose-designed waiting area and new physiotherapy suite. With pet ownership on the rise, this expansion will enable the team to offer even more support to first opinion practices.

Clare Hamilton, Managing Director at Hamilton Specialist Referrals says: “It has been a busy year for our team, having remained open throughout lockdown like most veterinary practices. We have added several new specialisms during this time and seen 1652 patients referred from over 100 first opinion veterinary practices, both within the local area and further afield.”

Already well-known for orthopaedics, neurology and rehabilitation, the expanded offering at the Berkshire-based referral centre includes soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and cardiology. Most recently, Dr Richard Elders, European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Oncology has joined the team to head up the new oncology referral service, bringing the number of specialists at the centre to 16.

Clare explains: “We are really excited to be launching our fantastic new facilities to accommodate the rapid growth of our referral hospital. We have a brilliant, collaborative relationship with first opinion vets and are delighted to be able to offer an even better experience to them and their clients.”

The construction team had to work around Covid restrictions to complete the building work, which came with its own challenges, but it doesn’t stop there. The new unit, based on the same road as their current premises, will allow the referral centre to expand the surgical suites in their existing building so they can continue to offer cutting-edge surgeries with the very latest equipment.
