Humanimal Trust, the charity founded by renowned orthopaedic veterinary surgeon Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, has unveiled its enhanced ONE Medicine Network - an enhanced digital hub designed to bring together people and organisations from human and animal health to share knowledge, inspire collaboration and accelerate medical progress that benefits all species.

The refreshed platform reinforces the charity’s mission to advance One Medicine by removing barriers between human and veterinary medicine and facilitating collaboration so that all beings benefit from sustainable and equal medical progress, but not at the expense of an animal’s life.

Joe Bailey, CEO of Humanimal Trust, said: “Our goal with the new ONE Medicine Network is to make it the 'go to place' for collaboration, news, views and opportunities in One Medicine. We’ve created a space where human and veterinary medical professionals, as well as students, can become one - connecting, learning from each other and working together to improve healthcare for all species.

“We already have more than 300 members across 33 countries, including physiotherapists, veterinary nurses, surgeons, bioengineers, GPs and lecturers. Through this enhanced Network, we hope knowledge-sharing and joint working will become the norm, and that the next generation of vets, doctors, researchers and other professionals will find it easier than ever to study, learn and practise together.”

What’s new in the ONE Medicine Network

The revamped Network includes a suite of innovative features and improvements, including:

Membership is free and open to human and veterinary clinicians, researchers, students, policymakers and allied health professionals who share a vision for a fairer, healthier future for all species.

Humanimal Trust’s investment in this upgraded platform builds on a series of landmark initiatives uniting human and veterinary medicine - from its £250,000 cancer research project and Connections Awards to the One Medicine Webinar Series launched earlier this month.

Andrea Short, Research and Scientific Outreach Manager at Humanimal Trust, said: “Despite growing awareness, collaboration between human and veterinary medicine still faces barriers, including from separate funding systems and limited cross-disciplinary visibility.

“The ONE Medicine Network directly tackles these challenges by offering a central meeting point where professionals around the world can share insights, research and opportunities that drive innovation for both humans and animals.”
