As part of Independent Vetcare’s New Graduate Academy CPD programme post graduate vets in their first year of the two year programme, have been enjoying five hours of wet labs during a recent dental and dermatology CPD event.

The two day event had a packed schedule, with lectures and practical wet labs being hosted by dentist to the veterinary profession John Robinson, as well as Independent Vetcare’s Gerhard Putter BVSc, MANZCVS (Small Animal Dentistry & Oral Surgery) MRCVS, with dermatology being covered by Dr Anita Patel BVM, DVD, MRCVS, Louise Longstaff MRCVS & Dr Cathy Curtis BVetMed, DVD MRCVS.

“We know how vital the practical sessions within our CPD events are for the vets on the IVC New Graduate Academy programme. It’s a great way to not only help retain the theory of subjects, but to build confidence, enabling attendees to go back to their practices and start using what they have learnt” said Malcom Weetman, Group Veterinary Advisor and Clinical Lead for the IVC New Gradate Academy.

Independent Vetcare are also resolute in their commitment to providing what they describe as “optimum student to trainer ratios”, for all the practical elements of CPD sessions with the programme. For example, their recent cytology practical work had a 1:5 ratio, something that they consider the norm for creating a truly high quality learning experience.
