A Somerset-based animal hospital has further strengthened its clinical team with the addition of internal medicine specialist Vanessa Woolhead.

Vanessa, an American diplomate in small animal internal medicine, has joined Linnaeus-owned Cave Veterinary Specialists, near Wellington.

Vanessa joins Cave after previously working at fellow Linnaeus practice Eastcott Veterinary Referrals, in Swindon.

Vanessa completed a residency in internal medicine at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) to gain her status as a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and has a special interest in endocrinology, gastroenterology and immunology.

She said: “Cave has an excellent reputation for outstanding provision of referral services in the South West and I am delighted to be joining the team.

“Having worked for a fellow Linnaeus practice at Eastcott, I know Cave will be a practice with excellent values and a commitment to investing in high-quality care.”

Cave’s hospital director Claire Lawrence said: “We have seen a marked increase in demand for our services and growing the team with high-quality clinicians is a strong focus for us.

“It’s with this in mind that I’m delighted to welcome Vanessa to bolster our already-impressive offerings in internal medicine.”

Cave offers comprehensive, specialist-led services in anaesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, orthopaedic surgery and soft tissue surgery.
