IVC Evidensia Group Head Of Farm Animal And Equine Announced

IVC Evidensia has just announced the appointment of Jan Lievaart as Group Head of Farm Animal and Equine for IVC Evidensia. This newly established role in the Group supports the Farm and Equine strategy across the whole business. Initially focusing on the UK and Netherlands, representing the largest part of IVC Evidensia’s farm and equine services, Jan is ideally suited to the role and brings a wealth of experience gained in the Netherlands, UK and Australia.
“Our farm animal business has been growing steadily over the last few years especially in the UK and Netherlands. We need cohesive leadership and the development of a clear strategy to ensure clarity for our vets, farmers, and third-party organisations”, says Paul Cowling, Chief Executive UK and Ireland.
Michiel van Silfhout, Chief Executive The Netherlands and Belgium continues, “Jan will work closely with the Farm Animal Advisory Boards (FAAB) in each country and sit on the Group Veterinary Board. We are confident that he will bring additional focus to key aspects of our farm animal and equine strategy.”
Jan Lievaart graduated in 2000 from the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Utrecht University, in The Netherlands before gaining two years’ experience in a dairy cattle practice. In 2002 he returned to Utrecht University to teach while delivering services from the ambulatory clinic, going on to complete a Masters in Veterinary Epidemiology and a PhD in Udder Health. In 2007 he joined the veterinary program at Charles Sturt University in Australia, first as a lecturer and from 2010 as a senior lecturer in epidemiology before becoming head of the discipline group “Production animals and Epidemiology”.
After his return to The Netherlands in 2011 he started a consultancy business for veterinary practice management and in 2017 Jan joined IVC Evidensia as Head of Farm Animal and Equine in The Netherlands. Since then, together with his Dutch team, Jan has been steadily building a strong group of practices both in farm animal and equine to become market leader in both species’ areas.
