Visitors to Jurox (UK) Limited’s stand (stand R58) at the London Vet Show (LVS) will be invited to talk for one minute about its leading anaesthetic, Alfaxan, in a Vox Pop style ‘Alfaxan Challenge’.

Alfaxan users will be given the opportunity to talk about the benefits of Alfaxan in a special inflatable ‘Alfaxan Challenge’ booth , while non-users can talk through ‘how they would like to improve their anesthesia’.  They will be encouraged to speak for one minute ‘without hesitation, deviation or repetition’, with every participant winning either an Alfaxan fob watch or an Alfaxan utility belt.  The best ‘Alfaxan Challenge’ recording during LVS, which takes place at ExCeL London on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 November, will win a £150 spa voucher.

The company will be showcasing both Alfaxan and Buprelieve on its stand.  Buprelieve is the company’s recently launched cost-effective opioid analgesic licensed for use in dogs, cats and horses.

Jurox takes great pride in its investment in educational initiatives to help raise anaesthesia and analgesia standards in veterinary practices throughout the UK and will be hosting a series of lectures during LVS.  The lectures are entitled ‘Considerations in canine caesarean section and ‘Alfaxalone – the evidence for its place in UK anaesthesia practice’.  The sessions will be followed by an interactive panel Q&A on ‘How can Alfaxan work for my practice?’.

Taking place at 2.30pm to 3.10pm on Thursday 17 November, ‘Considerations in canine caesarean section’ will be presented by Jayne Clark BVSc BSc(Hons) GP Cert SAM MRCVS and Elizabeth Barker BVetMed(Hons) Cert AVP (VA) PgCert MRCVS, veterinary technical advisors at Jurox, both of whom are trained by veterinary anaesthesia diploma holders, are members of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists (AVA) and locum in practice to ensure their practical skills are maintained.  ‘Alfaxalone – the evidence for its place in UK anaesthesia practice’ will take place at 11.30am to 12.10pm on Friday 18 November and will be presented by Matt Gurney BVSc CertVA DipECVAA MRCVS, RCVS Specialist and European diploma holder in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia.

The interactive panel Q&A on ‘How can Alfaxan work for my practice?’ will follow each of the lectures and will take place at 3.10pm to 3.30pm on Thursday 17 November and 12.10pm to 12.30pm on Friday 18 November.  It will be chaired by Richard Beckwith, Jurox UK country manager, and will feature an esteemed panel including Matt Gurney, Phil Burns BVetMed MRCVS from Lakeview Veterinary Centre, Rich Irvine BVSc MRCVS, Jurox UK vet services manager and Michael Unsworth BVetMed MRCVS, Jurox technical advisor.  During the 20 minute chaired sessions, delegates can pose any Alfaxan related questions to the panel. The sessions are hugely popular and are on a first come, first served basis.

Richard Beckwith, Jurox UK country manager, comments: “Jurox is fully committed to investing in educational initiatives in all areas of anaesthesia and analgesia to help raise standards in veterinary practices throughout the UK and our lectures at LVS are an integral element of this educational process.”
