MP Praises Vet Practice After Behind-the-scenes Tour

A leading veterinary practice has earned praise from the MP for Stafford following a guided tour of the state-of-the-art surgery.
Theo Clarke MP visited Linnaeus-owned Donnachie & Townley (D&T), in Stafford, to enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the practice.
The Conservative parliamentarian was shown around by Jo Waldron, lead veterinary nurse at D&T, which also has a well-established practice in Rugeley. During her visit she met vets, nurses and the client care team and was hugely impressed by the level of care on offer.
Ms Clarke said: “I as absolute thrilled to be invited to visit D&T and meet the talented team there who are so obviously dedicated to providing the best possible care for pets across Staffordshire and further afield.
“Having recently rescued an injured hedgehog in my garden and learning how to care for it before releasing it back into the wild, I was curious to learn exactly what high levels of care are available for other animals in our constituency and it was an absolute delight to meet everyone at D&T.”
Ms Clarke was keen to learn what it takes to become a veterinary professional, the years or dedication and the route into the profession, which D&T supports through local schools and groups such as the Beavers – as well as local higher education institutions such as South Staffordshire College in Penkridge and Harper Adams University in Newport, Shropshire.
She was also keen to hear about the issues facing the profession such as protecting the title of Registered Veterinary Nurse and mental health.
“As a keen advocate of mental health, it was really interesting to hear of some of the concerns there are in the profession, but it was lovely to hear what a close-knit community D&T is and how supportive the team is of the pets they care for – and each other!”
Registered veterinary nurse Jo said: “It was my pleasure to introduce Theo to the team and show her first hand exactly how dedicated our team and D&T is to patients and clients alike.
“As a longstanding practice within the community, we recognise the importance of welcoming visitors to understand more about the services we offer our patients and clients.
“Theo was very impressed with our facilities and took the time to speak to everyone on our team, learning more about the treatments and services we offer here.”
As well as providing veterinary care to pets across Stafford and Rugeley, D&T has also been doing its best to care for the environment.
Last year, the practice earned a prestigious silver award from Investors in the Environment (iiE) in recognition of its eco-friendly practices and sustainability programme.
