Dr Maria Amengual- Vila, a clinician at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, has successfully completed the examinations to become a European Specialist in Anaesthesia and Analgesia.

Maria Amengual-Vila joined Lumbry Park, in September 2015, to provide anaesthesia and pain management, particularly to the hospital’s most critically-ill patients. She graduated from the University Cardenal Herrera-CEU of Valencia, Spain, in 2004 and, following a period of practice in Spain, completed a one-year rotating internship at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket.  She later joined the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow as Senior Clinical Training Scholar (Resident) in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia.  Before joining Lumbry Park, she worked at the University of Liverpool as a lecturer in anaesthesia.  Lumbry Park is one of the most advanced, multi-disciplinary specialist veterinary hospitals in the UK and part of CVS’ rapidly growing referral network.

Commenting on Dr Amengual- Vila’s achievement, Mr Ray Girotti, Hospital Director, said: “Maria offers an exemplary standard of anaesthesia to our most critically-ill patients and her clinical interest in local and regional anaesthetic/analgesic techniques and anaesthesia and in the care of emergency patients make her a key member of our multi-disciplinary team.  She has worked very hard to achieve recognition as a European Specialist and we congratulate her.”

Maria Amengual-Vila added: “It has been a long journey but extremely worth it for me.  I would like to thank all of the team and Lumbry Park for supporting me through my studies.”

Key to its success is CVS' ability to attract friendly veterinary staff and to invest in their clinical skills, knowledge and in research to drive the profession forward.  It also provides the business support to ensure its diverse range of small animal, large animal and equine practices achieve their full potential.   CVS' guiding principles include a commitment to excellence in all aspects of its work and a focus on building long-term relationships with its customers and suppliers.  The company works in close partnership with the wider veterinary profession and industry colleagues.
