A new liquid foliar fertiliser for paddock owners is set to revolutionise the way horse owners manage their paddocks whilst providing a retail opportunity for equine practices, suggests manufacturer Agribio Ltd. Launched this spring, application is via a knapsack or mounted boom sprayer from quad bike or amenity tractor.
G-upp has been designed specifically with horse owners in mind, says product developer Chris Wilton. “The unique product is a combination of organic freeze-dried N-fixing and P –solubilising microbes and natural liquid foliar nutrition fertiliser that delivers controlled grass growth throughout the season.
“It works in symbiosis with the grass avoiding the lush growth spurts that most horse owners want to avoid. So those concerned about laminitis or overweight animals, can keep grass healthy and constant, without over-stimulating growth.
Mr Wilton points out that G-upp is safe for horses, so animals do not need to be removed from any paddock being treated. “An added benefit is that the small pack weighs less than a kilo before dilution, so there’s a huge saving in storage space over conventional fertilisers. It’s also easy for customers to pick up and take home, and is very manageable for one person to apply.”
Wholesale price is £29.95 plus VAT, and retailing at £59.99 per pack for 2.5 acres, not only does G-upp provide a good margin for practices, it also offers excellent value for clients adds Mr Wilton.
“Being a foliar feed also means that after application G-upp quickly spreads into the leaves and roots without the need for rain. Conventional fertilisers ‘lock up’ phosphorus in the soil limiting it’s uptake by the plant, however G-upp overcomes this with a natural blend of phosphorus solubilising and nitrogen enhancing microbes containing amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
“This also stimulates good root growth, and we know that what goes on underground is reflected above ground! The roots explore the soil for nutrients which in turn provides good tillering of the grass. Strong roots below ground will also provide a better ‘anchor’ and help keep the grass together if the paddock is also used for schooling or jumping,” he adds.
There is a display stand to help practices capitalise on the product and any practice interested should contact AgriBio on 08432 244908.More from
